Important Notice for Qwest Choice On-Line Customers!
Qwest will be removing our DNS Cache server, 192.168.4.1 from service
on (08/07/06). This should not affect customers Internet experience;
however, there may be cases where some customers have this information
manually entered in their PC settings. Having this information
manually entered in your PC after this date will prohibit you from
accessing anything on the Internet until you correct this issue.
Please follow the below steps to verify and correct your PC
configuration. This can be done without calling into the Qwest
Support Center. Your PC should be set up to automatically acquire
DNS server information from us and not have any information on DNS
filled in.
For Windows XP PCs (older Operating systems are very similar)
- Right click on My Network Places (My Network Neighborhood on
older systems) and select properties
- Right click on your Local Area Network Card and select properties
- On the Local Area Connection Properties Dialog box, scroll down
to Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and select properties.
- Verify that Obtain DNS server address automatically is checked.
If not, then select this option and then hit OK.
- Hit the OK button on the Local Area Connection Properties
Dialog box
- Close out the Network Connection box by selecting the X in the
upper right hand corner.
- Reboot your PC to ensure you get the new DNS information.
